NW Groundwork was tasked with improving the existing driveway at Eaves Farm, a Grade 2 listed National Trust property which is part of the Holcombe estate.
Over time, drainage issues and surface wear had compromised the accessibility and longevity of the driveway. To address these concerns efficiently and cost-effectively, our team implemented a solution to ensure durability and sustainability for years to come.

The existing driveway suffered from poor drainage, leading to water accumulation that not only affected the roadway itself but also the surrounding fields. The surface had deteriorated, requiring a cost-conscious yet high-quality approach to restoration.
To mitigate the drainage issue, we installed a new open ditch system designed to effectively channel water away from both the fields and the driveway. This improvement prevents waterlogging, reducing the risk of future erosion and maintaining the integrity of the driveway.
Once the drainage system was in place, we proceeded with the restoration of the driveway surface. By re-stoning and re-compacting the driveway, we were able to stabilise the base, ensuring a solid and durable foundation. This approach not only provided a more even and reliable surface but also helped save costs by optimising existing materials.
For the final phase of the project, we partnered with Darlington's Tarmac Company, a trusted supplier that has collaborated with NW Groundwork on numerous projects. They expertly supplied and laid the final tarmac layer, ensuring a smooth, high-quality finish that enhances both the functionality and aesthetics of the driveway.
The project was completed efficiently, resulting in a significantly improved driveway that offers better drainage, durability, and a polished appearance. By implementing cost-saving measures and working with reliable partners like Darlington Tarmac Company, we delivered a high-standard result that aligns with the needs of the National Trust while preserving the landscape of Holcombe Eaves Farm.
At Northwest Groundwork, we take pride in delivering practical and effective solutions for our clients. Whether it's improving access to historic sites or enhancing infrastructure, we remain committed to quality workmanship and long-lasting results.
